Long Island Treehouse: Day 4 Install

FINAL DAY on site!
Marco & Will spend the morning adding the play accessories:
pulley bucket, rock holds, drop leaf table & 2 drop benches, top secret wall safe, chalkboard, shelf & pegs set, and lots & lots of Long Island road signs!

Then break for yoga exercises on the lawn!

Meanwhile, Barbara's up in the Clubhouse putting the finishing touches to the interior...

The interior is bright and sunny (the walls are stained wild orange)
and loaded with play accessories:
Chalkboard
Shelf & pegs
Flags on hook
Shield
(that slides
open to reveal secret
safe combination)

Top Secret Safe
Drop leaf table
& drop seats

And all the hand-carved & stained signs are attached to the walls...

Peek thru the door: the tree grows up thru the deck & partially hides the entrance...

The finished tree house blends into the the surroundings without a hint of the color explosion inside.

Long Island Treehouse: Day 3 Install

Day 3 is when it all comes together! Follow the guys amazing progress through the day in this series of images:

It takes teamwork to get a clubhouse up in a tree. Today is when the magic really starts to happen: raising the walls, lifting the roof in place, adding the firepole, railings, etc.

By end of day it will look almost complete! It won't be - still a million details to make it strong & sturdy and ready for play. But look and see how cool Day 3 is...

Cutting floor boards around the tree...

Laying out the hand-carved signs that will be added once the treehouse is up...

Quick lunch break on site, usually a picnic in the grass...

Securing the first wall, then bringing the others in...

Raising each wall is a team effort...

Next the roof goes up in 2 pieces and slides into place..

Once the roof is on, it really starts to look like a treehouse!

Marco & Will as counter weights, securing the roof...

Dig the hole for the firepole...
and call home...

End of day, dusk coming in...

Building the frame for the 2nd Tower
and carving the trims

Lunch on the dock!
Ember, another sister & artist/master staining, has come down from Sebastopol to help stain for a couple of days! This is a huge structure and we need everyone's help to make the deadline!

Staining

Setting the stained parts out to dry, baking in the sun out on the dock...
